#HYEthoughts #1 by JAMES RICH (What does "HYE" mean?)

So I figured I would finally get out of my own way for once and get these thoughts out of my forever working, non stop mind before I go crazy.

Clifton HYE is my brand, as well as my crew and family. Growing up my friends and I called ourselves the Clifton Boys because the area we all resided in at that time in Staten Island, NY was called Clifton, hence the "Clifton" in "Clifton HYE", now on to the next part...

As you can see this new addition to the blog is called "HYE thoughts" and I already know what many of you are saying to yourselves. "What does "Hye" mean?". Great question by the way because it's something that I have never actually explained or put into words and I have been saying it for over six months now. It has actually come to represent everything that I stand for. So with that said here it goes, I'm a give it my best shot. I am by no means a seasoned writer...

HYE, started out as just a play on the word "high". As in "high" school which is kind of what I compared the music/entertainment industry to. In high school you have your popular kids, your cool kids, your bullies, your outcasts, your teachers pets, and so on and so on. I just wanted to create my own school, where I made the rules and I dictated what was and was not cool. Only the coolest of the cool could enroll in MY school where we would promote unity, love, and ALL THINGS COOL. I mean it's only right since I am actually such a cool cat myself. So to separate my school from the traditional High School, I wanted to call my school, HYE School.

So there you go, the secret is out. No acronym for the word HYE just a play on a word that I thought looked kinda cool when spelled differently, or is that all...

As I grew as a person, my thoughts and ideas grew. As well as my message and goal as an artist. Due to the likes of new artists such as Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y, the "stoner" lifestyle is being brought back into popular culture. Although I am not a huge user of marijuana, I can't help but notice the connection the youth has to it. Being "high" has become as popular as I have ever seen. It is a way of life to many and also comes along with a way of thinking. I decided to flip the term, being "high", to being "Hye". As cheesy as it may sound, I really do get high on life. So many different things interest and intrigue me. I genuinely love life and I love LIVING life even more, and that is what being "HYE" is to me.

Now that you know what Hye means, get ready for these #HYEthoughts...
